When I later returned to Sapporo I had postcards to write and send to friends around the globe, after a satisfying dinner of Soup Curry (a specialty of Sapporo) I opted to find a jazz bar to enjoy a drink and write. I somehow managed to stumble into Ryo Fukui's Slowboat Jazz Bar, the incredible thing is that Fukui is my all time favourite Jazz pianist and I had heard years ago he had a jazz bar but forgotten about it. Unfortunately, Fukui is deceased but his wife is still around and running the bar. This was another incredible evening spent talking with jazz enthusiasts and after closing I was invited to remain late into the night for a special meal with Mrs. Fukui and the band that had performed. Her home-made plum wine was delicious and getting to write in the guestbook was an honour. I loved that Mrs. Fukui suggested I had been guided to her late husband's jazz bar by his spirit via google maps and the other patrons thought it hilarious. Shot on my Leica.
